Nigeria Customs Service Selects 3,852 from 573,680 Applicants

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, announced that only 3,852 candidates were selected from 573,680 applicants for the 2024/2025 recruitment exercise. This represents a mere 0.67 percent of applicants.

The successful candidates were distributed across three entry cadres: 1,275 in the Superintendent Cadre, 367 in the Inspectorate Cadre, and 2,210 in the Customs Assistant Cadre. Adeniyi apologized for the prolonged recruitment process, which lasted approximately 20 months from December 2024 to August 2026, attributing the delay to the unprecedented number of applications and the need for a transparent selection process.

He emphasized that each application underwent multiple stages of screening and verification. Changes in the Service’s senior leadership during the recruitment period also contributed to the extended timeline.

The successful candidates will now proceed to physical and medical assessments, followed by a final review at the Board level.
