Bandit Attacks Force Hundreds to Flee Niger to Benin

Recent bandit attacks in Niger State have caused hundreds of residents from the Borgu Local Government Area to flee to the Benin Republic. Abdurrahman Bala Gambo, a member of the House of Representatives representing Borgu, confirmed that the attacks forced residents to abandon their homes in Konkoso Town.

The bandits invaded the town, prompting a mass exodus as people fled in fear. Although no fatalities were reported during the attack, many residents returned to find their homes burned and belongings destroyed.

The violence has left them without shelter and means of livelihood, compelling them to seek refuge in the neighboring Benin Republic. Residents, who spoke anonymously, described the dire conditions they faced, having to leave behind food supplies and clothing.

The situation reflects a growing crisis as banditry continues to threaten the safety and security of communities in the region.
