Trump Criticizes Supreme Court Over Tariff Ruling

Donald Trump, the former U.S. President, voiced his disappointment and shame regarding certain members of the Supreme Court after it ruled that the President does not possess the constitutional authority to impose sweeping global tariffs.

This ruling, delivered on a Friday, allows tariffs on specific goods from certain countries to remain in place, potentially giving the administration a pathway to restructure parts of its trade policy. Trump stated that he is "absolutely ashamed" of the justices for lacking the courage to support the country.

He announced plans to pursue a 100 percent tariff on Chinese goods by October 2025. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), warned that Trump's tariff measures could represent the greatest disruption to trade in 80 years.

The U.S. Customs data indicated that the government collected $130 billion in import duties, highlighting the significant financial implications of these tariffs.
