Amaechi Claims He Can Fix Nigeria Amid Economic Crisis

Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State, has expressed confidence in his ability to resolve Nigeria's issues, stating, "I can fix Nigeria." He criticized the current administration of President Bola Tinubu, highlighting the deteriorating economic situation that has led to increased hardship for citizens. Amaechi pointed out the struggles people face, such as rising food prices and transportation costs.

He accused Tinubu of failing to deliver on promises of power and not providing the necessary support for citizens. Furthermore, Amaechi called for stronger electoral institutions, particularly regarding the independence of electoral bodies and the judiciary, suggesting that Tinubu would lose the upcoming elections if these issues are not addressed.

He is among several prominent figures within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) positioning themselves for the 2027 presidential race, with party primaries expected to occur between April 23 and May 30, 2026, ahead of the presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
