Amaechi Claims He Can Solve Nigeria's Problems Ahead of 2027

Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transport and Governor of Rivers State, expressed confidence in his ability to address Nigeria's challenges as the country approaches the 2027 general elections. Speaking during a program on Channel Television, Amaechi stated that he understands Nigeria's problems and is capable of solving them.

He highlighted various projects executed during his time in office, including rail line and port developments, as evidence of his capacity to tackle issues such as insecurity. Criticizing the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu, Amaechi noted that the economic situation has worsened, causing widespread hardship among Nigerians.

He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to operate independently to ensure free and fair elections, asserting that Tinubu's administration does not want a strong candidate to oppose him. Amaechi is among several prominent figures from the African Democratic Congress positioning themselves for the presidential race, with party primaries scheduled between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
