“I carry water, not alcohol”: K1 De Ultimate apologises over airport incident

Fuji music icon K1 De Ultimate has issued an apology for an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on August 5, 2025. In a statement released on Friday, the singer clarified that the flask he was carrying contained water, not alcohol, as alleged.

K1 explained that he suffers from chronic dehydration and was advised by his doctor to stay hydrated, hence why he had a water flask with him. He emphasized that the flask was empty during two separate security checks and was filled at the airport lounge before he headed to the tarmac.

The singer extended his apologies to the Presidency, Ministry of Aviation, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, and the Nigerian public, stating that it was never his intention to cause disruption or violate aviation protocols. K1 De Ultimate reiterated his loyalty to Nigeria and commitment to upholding the positive image he has built over the past fifty years as a cultural ambassador of Nigerian music.
