Akpabio Questions Existence of PDP at Abuja Event

On Wednesday, Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, remarked on the ongoing existence of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), expressing surprise that the opposition party is still active. His comments were made during the inauguration of Akinwumi Ajibola Street in Gaduwa District, Abuja, where he represented President Bola Tinubu.

Akpabio acknowledged the presence of dignitaries, including Senator Olaka Nwogu, who recently won the Rivers South East senatorial district election on the PDP platform. He stated that he was unaware of the PDP's status, suggesting that it should "allow die." Akpabio also praised Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for his leadership and performance, implying that Wike's work has overshadowed that of his predecessors.

The election in Rivers State saw Nwogu declared the winner with 47,961 votes, defeating the APC candidate Osar Erewari, who received 1,647 votes. Akpabio's comments reflect ongoing tensions within the PDP and the political landscape in Nigeria.
