Akpabio Denies Claims of Threat Against Northerners

On Wednesday, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, denied allegations that he stated Northerners would suffer if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election. This denial was communicated by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Honourable Eseme Eyiboh, in Abuja.

Eyiboh referred to a Facebook post by Engr. Ibrahim Umar Ammar, which claimed, “We will make sure Northerners suffer from January to May if Tinubu loses the election.” Eyiboh labeled the statement as a fabrication, asserting that there is no credible evidence supporting it, such as video or audio recordings. He challenged Ammar to produce the original source of the claim and emphasized that the allegation was a calculated incitement aimed at creating division.

Eyiboh highlighted Akpabio’s political alliances and legislative achievements that support the North, including the establishment of the North-West and North-Central Development Commissions and financial assistance to flood victims in Borno State.
