ADC Demands Clarification from YSIEC on LG Poll Exclusion

The Yobe State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally demanded clarification from the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YSIEC) concerning its alleged failure to communicate essential guidelines and electoral activities related to the 2026 Local Government Council election. This request was articulated in a letter signed by the state chairman, Umar Alhaji, on Wednesday.

Alhaji expressed the party's disappointment over YSIEC's purported lack of communication, emphasizing that equal access to electoral information is crucial for lawful political participation. The ADC is seeking evidence of how and when the electoral guidelines and decisions were communicated to them.

Alhaji highlighted that the party's concerns extend beyond mere access to information, as any failure to notify could hinder their ability to participate fully in the election. The ADC has cited relevant provisions of the 1999 Constitution and has warned YSIEC that it will pursue legal action and other lawful measures if their rights are compromised.
