Adekunle Gold Reflects on Music's Spiritual Journey

Adekunle Gold revealed that his passion for music originated in the church, where he admired young choir leaders and aspired to lead himself. Despite not being given the opportunity to lead, he viewed this as a lesson in resilience.

Gold recounted a pivotal moment during an audition with Nigerian music producer Cobhams Asuquo, who appreciated his voice but indicated it wasn't what he was seeking at the time. This feedback motivated Gold to continue developing his craft.

He also shared the origin of his stage name, which he derived from a preacher's phrase at a youth conference in 2008. Gold discussed the profound connection between music and human emotions, stating that melodies can evoke memories and transcend cultural barriers.

He referenced Fela Kuti's belief in the spiritual nature of music, reinforcing its significance in his life and work.
