Adekunle Gold Reveals Song Rejection by Beyoncé

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold disclosed that he wrote a song titled "Simile" for Beyoncé’s The Lion King project, an opportunity presented to him in 2019 by Parkwood Entertainment. At the time, he was in Los Angeles while his father was in Lagos, and he had just experienced the loss of his father, which made it challenging for him to focus on the song.

Despite his excitement about writing for Beyoncé, whom he considers a significant musical inspiration, the emotional turmoil led him to lose interest in the project. He submitted the song late, hoping it would not be favored by Beyoncé, allowing him to keep it for himself.

Ultimately, he retained the song, which he completed in 2020, and it is now included in his latest album.
