Former Nigerian AG Malami Discloses N958m Gifts and N374m Income, Faces Property Forfeiture

Former Nigerian Attorney General, Malami, revealed receiving gifts worth N958 million and a salary with allowances totaling N374 million. The Federal High Court in Abuja granted an interim forfeiture order for 57 properties suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities linked to Malami and his sons, Abdulaziz Malami and Abiru Rahman Malami.

Malami's counsel, Joseph Daudu, argued against the forfeiture, stating that the properties were not linked to any unlawful activities and were declared in asset forms submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau. The properties in question include a plot in Kano, a duplex in Abuja, and a building for the Malami Foundation.

The court is yet to make a final decision on the forfeiture. The case has seen legal arguments regarding the legitimacy of the properties and the process followed by the EFCC in obtaining the interim order.
