Uba Sani: No New Loans Since Becoming Kaduna Governor

Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, declared during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today that he has not taken any new loans since assuming office. He is currently managing approximately ₦6.7 billion in monthly debt repayments inherited from prior administrations.

Sani attributed his administration's ability to fund development projects without borrowing to careful management of public funds and prioritizing investments. He asserted, “Since I became governor, I’ve not borrowed with one kobo.” Additionally, Sani addressed the issue of out-of-school children in Kaduna State, revealing that a household-mapping exercise identified around 550,000 children not attending school.

This initiative has successfully helped return over 300,000 children to classrooms, with ongoing efforts to utilize the collected data for targeted interventions.
