Amaechi Claims Key Role in Buhari's 2015 Victory

Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transport and Governor of Rivers State, has publicly dismissed Bola Tinubu's claims of being solely responsible for Muhammadu Buhari's 2015 presidential victory. In an interview, Amaechi stated that he played a central role in Buhari's success during the historic general elections that ended the 16-year rule of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

He noted that while he had remained silent on the matter for years, he felt compelled to clarify his involvement, which he insists went beyond mere campaigning. Amaechi served as the Director General of Buhari's presidential campaign and was also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum at the time, mobilizing political support across the country.

His comments reignite the long-standing debate over the key figures in Buhari's rise to power, particularly against former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, as Tinubu has repeatedly argued that Buhari's victory was due to his political structure.
