Umar Ardo Claims Credit for APC Formation for Buhari

Umar Ardo, a former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated in an interview that he was the primary architect behind the party's formation for Muhammadu Buhari's 2015 presidential election, not Rotimi Amaechi. Ardo's comments were made in response to Amaechi's recent claims regarding his significant role in Buhari's electoral success.

Ardo emphasized that no single individual can claim sole credit for making someone president, as it requires a collective effort from many people and groups. He recounted that Buhari initially decided not to contest the 2011 elections due to a lack of political support outside Northern Nigeria.

Following his defeat, Ardo encouraged Buhari to reconsider his decision for the 2015 race. Additionally, Ardo discussed Bola Tinubu's political coalition and his involvement in the APC's formation, while also mentioning Tinubu's aspirations for the vice presidency in 2011 and his consultations with Goodluck Jonathan.
