Tinubu Appoints Olatunji Disu as Acting IGP

President Bola Tinubu appointed Olatunji Disu as the Acting Inspector General of Police during a ceremony at the State House in Abuja, following the retirement of Kayode Egbetokun. Tinubu emphasized the importance of Disu's fair and firm leadership, urging him to restore peace and strengthen security across Nigeria.

He assured Disu of his full support and highlighted the critical moment for rebuilding public confidence in the police. Tinubu noted Disu's good track record and dedication during his tenure as Lagos State Governor.

The appointment is subject to ratification by the Nigeria Police Council, which is scheduled to meet next week. Tinubu also paid tribute to Egbetokun for his contributions to maintaining law and order and encouraged him to advise his successor.

Disu committed to addressing the dual threats of banditry and insurgency, stressing the need for public cooperation and adherence to human rights in police operations.
