Peter Obi Voices Safety Concerns Ahead of 2027 Elections

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and former governor of Anambra State, raised alarming concerns regarding his safety in an interview on Arise TV. He expressed uncertainty about his survival until the 2027 general elections, stating, “I’m not even sure whether I’ll still be alive at the end of this.” Obi mentioned that he has faced multiple petitions and investigations, which have heightened his fears.

He emphasized the need for a peaceful democratic process and urged politicians to avoid actions that could incite tension. Obi appealed to state governors to ensure a fair campaigning environment for all candidates, advocating for political tolerance based on his own experiences allowing opposition politicians to campaign in Anambra.

He reiterated his commitment to a credible electoral process and previously voiced concerns about pressure on opposition figures and government actions affecting his activities.
