Peter Obi Raises Safety Concerns Ahead of 2027 Elections

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), voiced serious concerns regarding his safety in an interview on Arise TV, stating he is uncertain about being alive by the time of the 2027 general elections. Obi mentioned that he has faced petitions and investigations in various locations, leading to his apprehension about his future.

He emphasized his reliance on God for protection and urged politicians to foster a peaceful and democratic atmosphere for the upcoming elections. Obi appealed to governors to allow all presidential candidates and political aspirants to campaign freely, acknowledging that while governors have the right to support their preferred candidates, they should also ensure that others have the opportunity to participate.

He reflected on his tenure as the governor of Anambra State, where he permitted politicians from opposing parties to campaign, even if they supported his rivals.
