D’banj honors late son Daniel Jr. with heartfelt tribute

Nigerian music star D’banj, whose real name is Daniel Oyebanjo, shared a heartfelt tribute to his late son, Daniel Jr., who tragically drowned in a swimming pool at their Lagos home on June 24, 2018, while D’banj was attending a musical award in Los Angeles, United States. In a post on his X handle, D’banj expressed deep feelings of missing his son and mentioned that he, Daniel's mother, and his two siblings are now in a "safe space." He referred to Daniel Jr. as the family's "star boy" and conveyed his love, stating, "Daddy loves you specially, physically, spiritually, and powerfully." D’banj also reflected on how he coped with the loss, crediting the love and support from his fans during a difficult time.

He emphasized that the experience was a test of his strength and resilience, and he is grateful to still be standing.
