Femi Kuti: Marriage for British Passports Revealed

Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti, aged 64, disclosed during an interview with Channels Television that he married his first wife, Funke Kuti, with the intention of ensuring their children could acquire British passports. He stated that he had been upfront with her about his lifestyle prior to their marriage, expressing his love for women and his inability to commit to one partner.

Femi Kuti emphasized, “I told my first wife before we got married that I love women and could never be faithful to just one woman. I only married her so my children could get a British passport.” The couple had one child together, Omorinmade Kuti, known as Made Kuti, who was born in 1995.

Their marriage eventually ended in divorce after several years.
