Bunmi Nelson Regrets Missing Chance with Funke Akindele

Nollywood actress Bunmi Nelson has publicly expressed regret over her decision to decline an opportunity to collaborate with actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele several years ago. Reflecting on her career, Nelson admitted that she did not recognize Akindele's potential at the time, stating, “I didn’t see Funke going far.” She warned against underestimating others, sharing that she missed the chance to work with Akindele around 2006 or 2007 when the film industry was less populated.

Nelson recounted that Akindele had approached her multiple times to join the Yoruba film industry, but she dismissed the offers due to preconceived notions about the industry's expectations regarding respect and hierarchy. She acknowledged that her opinions were based on hearsay rather than personal experience.

Nelson emphasized the lessons learned about humility and expressed her desire for another chance to work with Akindele, apologizing to her and others for the missed opportunity.
