First-Class Graduate Credits NELFUND for Success

Oladepo Caleb Olugbenga, who hails from a modest family in Osun State, emerged as the overall best graduate in engineering at Ladok Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) for the 2024/2025 session, achieving a CGPA of 4.89. He attributed his academic success to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which provided him with the financial support necessary to pursue his education.

Oladepo's upbringing was marked by significant struggles, including walking miles to school daily and living without basic amenities such as electricity and television. His parents worked multiple jobs to support the family.

Following his graduation on January 14, he expressed gratitude towards NELFUND, which he described as a life-changing opportunity. The Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH, Prof.

Razaq Kalilu, confirmed that NELFUND disbursed loans to students, although many, including 15,000 from LAUTECH, are still awaiting full payment. The initiative aims to remove financial barriers for students from low-income backgrounds.
