Bisola Aiyeola Reflects on Shame of Unwed Motherhood

In an interview with Tope Olowoni, Nollywood actress Bisola Aiyeola shared her feelings of shame and fear when she discovered she was having a child outside of wedlock. At 40 years old, Aiyeola recounted her initial unhappiness and the struggle she faced as a single mother, particularly during the breastfeeding period.

She expressed concern that her situation might become a recurring pattern in her family, extending to her own daughter. Aiyeola reflected on the difficult economic conditions her family faced at the time, which made the thought of having a baby unbearable.

However, she eventually began to accept her circumstances and cherish her daughter, recognizing the lessons learned from her experiences. Looking back, she expressed gratitude for having her daughter and the growth that came from her journey as a mother.
