Emmanuel Shoon Denies Arrest Claims in Rivers State

Emmanuel Shoon, the Managing Director of Excel Optoelectron Company Limited, publicly denied reports circulating on Facebook and Chinese media regarding his alleged arrest by security agencies in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He characterized these claims as false and misleading, asserting that they were deliberately circulated to defame him.

Shoon explained that the situation arose from a business transaction where his company was approached to purchase LED screens. After the company refused to make an initial deposit of N10 million, he received a screenshot of a payment notice that displayed a balance sufficient to cover the full value of the invoice.

He stated that he felt uncomfortable with the transaction and decided to withdraw from the deal, which led to threats of defamation against him. Shoon emphasized that he is not evading arrest and considers himself a victim of defamation.
