FIFA Defends Balogun Suspension Amid UEFA Dispute

FIFA has responded to the growing dispute with UEFA regarding the suspension of Folarin Balogun, who received a red card. FIFA's disciplinary committee, led by President Mohammad Al Kamali, clarified that the suspension was not a reversal of the red card but rather a match ban based on relevant procedures in the FIFA disciplinary code.

The committee emphasized that its decision was made independently, without influence from the FIFA Executive Committee or external pressures, including a call from U.S. President Donald Trump to FIFA President Gianni Infantino regarding Balogun's ban.

The Belgian Football Authority has expressed outrage over the decision and is reportedly considering challenging it in the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Balogun, an 18-year-old player, is expected to be available for the round of 16 match, which has added to the controversy surrounding the incident.
