Renowned journalist Ike Abonyi has refuted claims by human rights activist Deji Adeyanju that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi offered money for support in the 2023 election. Abonyi, who facilitated a meeting between Adeyanju and Obi, stated that no such offer was made during their discussions.

He described Adeyanju's tweet as false and misleading, defending Obi's integrity. Abonyi emphasized that the allegations misrepresented the events that took place during the meeting, where Obi shared his life story and government experiences.

The journalist expressed disappointment in Adeyanju's claims and clarified that Obi did not offer any financial inducements for support.
