BREAKING: Peter Obi Slams Coup Allegation As “Reckless and Seditious Propaganda”

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 general election, has strongly refuted allegations of a coup plot against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as "reckless and seditious propaganda." His senior aide, Valentine Obienyem, condemned the accusation as a dangerous joke that could destabilize the country. The petition, filed by Abayomi Arabambi, accused Obi, Nigeria Labour Congress President Joe Ajaero, Senator Victor Umeh, and others of conspiring to overthrow the government.

Obienyem emphasized that such serious allegations should not be taken lightly and called for a thorough investigation to identify the source and evidence. He warned that false accusations could lead to instability and erode public trust in Nigeria's democratic institutions.

Obi's camp urged political actors to avoid desperation and factional rivalry, emphasizing the need for responsible politics in a fragile democracy.
