Opposition Unity Crucial for 2027 Elections, Says Hayatu-Deen

At the Ibadan Summit, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, a former presidential aspirant and leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), articulated that the only viable strategy for the opposition to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections is through a united front. He stressed that the current complex challenges facing Nigeria require coordinated responses that transcend the capabilities of individual parties.

Hayatu-Deen warned that continued fragmentation within the opposition would only entrench the status quo and prolong the hardships faced by millions of Nigerians. He urged political leaders to demonstrate genuine commitment to collaboration and sacrifice for a shared purpose.

The summit, hosted by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, included notable figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi. Hayatu-Deen highlighted the 2027 elections as a critical opportunity to reset Nigeria's trajectory, advocating for leadership that prioritizes national interests over partisan concerns.
