Opposition Leaders Unite at Ibadan Summit for 2027 Elections

The Ibadan summit took place on a Saturday, gathering leaders from 14 opposition parties to forge a common agenda against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The event, themed "Work Together to Unite the Opposition and Sustain Democracy," was hosted by Governor Seyi Makinde at the banquet hall of the Government House in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Notable attendees included former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Senator David Mark, Mr. Peter Obi, Prof.

Pat Utomi, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Barrister Taminu Turaki, Prof.

Jerry Gana, and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. Governor Makinde stressed the importance of collective efforts among opposition parties to ensure democracy is properly defined and maintained in Nigeria, warning against the dangers of a one-party state.

He highlighted the historical significance of Ibadan in shaping Nigeria's political landscape and called for a united front to address the current political challenges.
