Ibom Air Incident: Pilot Speaks on Release of Indecent Video, Passenger's 'Assault'

Commercial pilot Captain Boaz Agbonifoh spoke out against the release of an indecent video involving passenger Comfort Emmanson, who was accused of assaulting a crew member on an Ibom Air flight on Sunday, August 10. Agbonifoh condemned the public release of the video, calling it deplorable and unacceptable.

He criticized the handling of the situation and suggested that there may be selective justice at play. The incident began when Emmanson allegedly refused to switch off her mobile phone despite safety instructions, leading to a confrontation with cabin crew upon landing.

The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) imposed a lifetime ban on Emmanson from flying with any AON member, domestically or internationally. Ibom Air clarified that the footage of the incident was not meant for public distribution.

Group manager of marketing communication at Ibom Air, Aniekan Essienette, addressed the controversy, emphasizing that the incident was being handled internally.
