Ibom Air, Rights Group At Odds Over Mistreatment Of Disruptive Passenger

Civil rights organization, Centre for Human Rights and Accountability Network (CHRAN), has called for a thorough investigation into the incident involving a disruptive passenger, Ms. Comfort Emmanson, on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos.

CHRAN criticized the lifetime ban imposed on Emmanson by Ibom Air and urged the Federal Government to review CCTV footage from the aircraft. The group alleged that Emmanson was dehumanized, stripped naked, and videotaped, which they described as a gross violation of her privacy and dignity.

Ibom Air defended its actions, stating that Emmanson's behavior posed a serious threat to the safety of the crew and passengers, necessitating her removal from the flight. The airline maintained that its crew acted in accordance with professional safety guidelines and industry standards.

CHRAN called for a suspension of the ban on Emmanson pending a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
