The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed that former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai is currently in custody due to an ongoing investigation into economic and financial crimes. The confirmation was made on Wednesday, with J.

Okor Odei, the head of media and public communications at the ICPC, stating that El-Rufai remains in custody as the commission continues its work. The investigation is part of a broader inquiry being conducted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The ICPC has not disclosed specific details regarding the nature of the investigation but has promised to provide updates in line with its mandated procedures. Nasir El-Rufai served as the governor of Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and previously held the position of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory from 2003 to 2007.
