ICPC Searches El-Rufai's Home Amid Ongoing Investigation

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) searched the Abuja home of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on February 18, 2026, as he remains in custody amid an ongoing investigation. ICPC spokesperson John Odei confirmed El-Rufai's detention, which is linked to an investigation that has not disclosed specific details.

His legal representative, Ubong Akpan, condemned the search as unlawful and a violation of fundamental rights. The investigation follows a series of encounters between El-Rufai and security agencies, including an alleged failed attempt to arrest him during a visit to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission headquarters.
