Woman Convicted for Forging NAFDAC Documents for Visa

Remilekun Balogun Okedeyi was convicted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for forging employment documents from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to fraudulently apply for a UK visa. The case stemmed from an investigation into a visa fraud scheme exposed by the British Deputy High Commission, which identified a syndicate allegedly led by Olusegun Ojo Adigun.

The ICPC confirmed that Okedeyi falsely presented herself as a NAFDAC employee, using forged employment records, promotion letters, and identification cards. The case was heard at the Ikeja Special Offences Court, presided over by Justice Mojisola Dada, where Okedeyi entered a plea bargain and pleaded guilty.

She was sentenced to one year in prison or a fine of N500,000, payable within seven days, and was also ordered to perform two days of community service and enter a bond for good behavior. The rise in visa fraud cases has become a significant concern for Nigerian authorities and foreign governments.
