ICPC Seizes Items from Former Governor El-Rufai's Home

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has submitted a detailed inventory to the Federal Capital Territory High Court of items seized from the residence of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai in Abuja. The search, conducted on February 19, 2023, was executed under a valid search warrant issued on February 18, 2023, and involved the Nigeria Police Force.

The items recovered include investor account statements, asset declaration forms, business registration certificates, and various electronic devices such as nine flash drives, seven hard drives, multiple laptops, and mobile phones. El-Rufai, who is contesting the legality of the search and the arrest, claims that the ICPC's actions are an attempt to criminalize his silence during the investigation.

His family has accused the commission of violating his rights, asserting that the search warrant was invalid and fraudulently obtained. The case is currently under review by the FCT High Court.
