Bello El-Rufai Denies ICPC's Phone-Tapping Allegations

Bello El-Rufai, the son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, publicly denied claims made by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) regarding the seizure of phone-tapping equipment. The ICPC had reported the recovery of sophisticated electronic surveillance devices during an operation associated with Bello El-Rufai, suggesting they could unlawfully intercept communications.

In a statement released on Thursday, Bello El-Rufai labeled the report as entirely fabricated, asserting that neither he nor any entity connected to him possessed or operated illegal surveillance devices. He expressed concern over the trend of misinformation in politically sensitive matters and urged the ICPC to clarify its position publicly.

Bello challenged the anti-corruption agency to provide verifiable evidence to support its claims, emphasizing the lack of factual basis for the allegations. He warned against politicizing anti-corruption efforts and stressed the importance of maintaining professionalism and fairness in public institutions.
