ICPC Receives No Petition on Borno's N4bn Railway Project

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has stated that it has not received any formal petitions concerning the alleged N4 billion railway project in Borno State. This announcement follows the Borno State Government's assertion that the railway project is 100% complete, despite claims of administrative errors in the budget implementation report.

The controversy intensified after a June 15 report by civic organization Tracka questioned the state's claim of spending N2 billion on the railway project. Borno State officials, including Usman Tar, confirmed that no railway project had been awarded or funded for execution during the 2025 fiscal year.

Opposition parties, including the Nigeria Democratic Congress and African Democratic Congress, have expressed skepticism regarding the government's claims, urging the ICPC to conduct an unbiased investigation. Aliyu Balarab criticized the lack of transparency in the budget, while residents called for a comprehensive review of state expenditures.
