ICPC Advocates Advanced Forensics to Combat Financial Fraud

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), under the leadership of Secretary Mr. Okwudiri Oparaodu, has called for stronger forensic investigative capabilities to effectively tackle the rising complexity of financial fraud in Nigeria. This appeal was made during the opening of a two-day capacity-building workshop for ICPC operational personnel, themed on forensic capability in investigating corrupt practices and financial fraud.

Oparaodu highlighted the critical role of forensic investigation as a modern law enforcement tool, emphasizing the need to utilize advanced forensic techniques and technology to unravel complex financial crimes and build robust cases that can withstand judicial scrutiny. He urged participants to engage actively in training and adhere closely to investigative procedures to ensure findings remain credible and legally defensible.

The workshop, sponsored by the Central Democracy Development, aims to promote a broader understanding of forensic applications across the commission, with contributions from various officials, including Ahm Abdul and Titilayo Olaniyan, who stressed the importance of effective forensic techniques in managing evidence and strengthening law enforcement against corruption.
