ICPC Tracks N21.23 Trillion in Public Projects Nationwide

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has successfully tracked 950 projects valued at approximately N21.23 trillion across 26 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). During a recent workshop in Abuja, ICPC Chairman Dr.

Musa Adamu Aliyu emphasized the need for accountability in public spending and the importance of collaboration with the Nigerian Union of Journalists to combat corruption. The workshop aimed to identify abandoned and underperforming projects, compelling contractors to return to sites to enhance service delivery.

Aliyu noted that the project tracking serves as a critical tool to deter the misuse of public resources. Additionally, the workshop's theme focused on reinvigorating the national anti-corruption strategy for 2022-2026.

David Umahi, the Minister of Works, disclosed ongoing road projects and the government's commitment to improving infrastructure, despite inheriting a debt of N13 trillion and 268 ongoing projects. He expressed optimism about reducing travel challenges on Nigerian roads through significant interventions.
