Reps Propose ICPC Funding Overhaul for Better Recovery

The House of Representatives is calling for a comprehensive overhaul of the funding structure for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to improve its financial recovery efforts. During discussions on the ICPC's 2026 budget proposal, lawmakers highlighted the agency's impressive recovery of N33.16 billion and $1.8 million, despite facing significant budgetary constraints.

Hon. Abdulmaleek Abdulraheem, representing Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency in Kogi State, noted that the ICPC received a higher allocation of N2.8 billion in 2025 but still struggled to return funds to the federal coffers.

He urged the committee to ensure that the ICPC's 2026 budget does not fall below the previous year's figure. Hon.
