ICPC Calls for Enhanced Integrity in TETFund Management

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has called on heads of tertiary institutions in Nigeria to strengthen internal controls and enforce transparency in managing Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) projects. ICPC chairman Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu stated that merely increasing funding would not improve the education sector without accountability and proper project supervision.
He made this statement in Abuja during the opening of a two-day Organisational Integrity Management Capacity-Building Programme for officials of TETFund beneficiary institutions, organized by the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN) with TETFund's support. Aliyu identified corruption risks such as weak procurement practices and financial mismanagement as threats to educational investments.
He urged institutional leaders to model ethical behavior, enforce procedures, and provide safe reporting channels for misconduct. Aliyu also recommended regular corruption risk assessments and the development of specific integrity measures.
ACAN Provost Professor Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim emphasized the need for collaboration among all stakeholders to promote integrity in the education sector.
