ICPC Monitors ₦21.23tn Projects to Combat Corruption

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Musa Aliyu, disclosed that it has monitored road and bridge projects valued at ₦21.23 trillion as part of efforts to curb corruption and ensure accountability in public spending.

This announcement was made during a workshop organized by the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Abuja, themed "Reinvigorating the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2022-2026." The ICPC has recently tracked 950 projects across 26 states and the Federal Capital Territory, amounting to approximately ₦415.25 billion. This project tracking initiative has led to the exposure of abandoned and underperforming projects, compelling contractors to return to sites and strengthen accountability in public service delivery.

Dr. Aliyu emphasized the need for stronger collaboration with the media to promote transparency and accountability, urging journalists to deepen investigative reporting to support the anti-corruption drive.
