Idealab Agency Pursues REA Partnership for Renewable Energy

Idealab Agency Ltd has requested collaboration with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to promote domestic resource mobilization for investment in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector. The request was made in a letter to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of REA, signed by Amb. Dr Lois Jonathan, the Director of Communication.
Idealab, a consortium of 20 civil society organizations, aims to complement foreign investment with local funding through advocacy programs. The initiative seeks to inform Nigerians about investment opportunities in renewable energy and the benefits of increased domestic funding.
Idealab plans to work with REA’s Publicity Department to create media content to promote renewable energy initiatives. This includes a workshop scheduled for November 9, 2026, in Makurdi, Benue State, in collaboration with the Benue State Ministry of Power, Renewable Energy and Transport.
The proposed partnership aligns with the objectives of the World Bank Group and aims to mobilize additional capital for critical infrastructure development.
