Tinubu's Aide Critiques UK Political Instability Standards

Temitop Ajayi, serving as a special assistant to President Bola Tinubu, reacted to the resignation of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, which he announced outside 10 Downing Street. Ajayi criticized what he termed Western double standards regarding political stability, noting that African nations often face harsh economic and political labels from global entities under similar circumstances.

He pointed out that five presidents have resigned in six years in Africa, while the UK has seen six prime ministers in the same timeframe. Ajayi emphasized that if such political changes occurred in Africa, they would be labeled as instability by sovereign rating agencies, which would describe these countries as politically unstable for medium to long-term investment.

He remarked that every decision made by leaders should prioritize the country's welfare.
