IFAD Empowers 60,000 Youths in Niger Delta Agriculture

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is implementing a programme in Nigeria's Niger Delta that has trained and equipped more than 60,000 youths in agricultural activities and agro-processing. This initiative, jointly funded by the Federal Government and participating state governments, aims to increase food production, reduce poverty, and create new economic opportunities for young people in the region.

The programme focuses on developing practical skills in farming, food production, and processing, with the broader objective of improving livelihoods and enhancing participation in the agricultural value chain. Additionally, the initiative addresses youth unemployment by creating pathways for young people to engage in productive agricultural enterprises, thereby building sustainable sources of income.
