IGP Disu Presents State Police Framework to Senate Deputy

On Thursday, the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, submitted a comprehensive 75-page framework to Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin for the establishment of state police in Nigeria. This initiative is part of efforts to decentralize policing in the country, as outlined in a statement by Ismail Mudashir, Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President on Media and Publicity.

The report, titled "Comprehensive Framework for the Establishment of State Police," was presented in Jibrin's office at the National Assembly. Professor Olu Ogunsakin, Chairman of the Nigeria Police Force Committee, is tasked with examining the modalities for instituting state police.

The report includes professional insights, strategic recommendations, and legal implications. The IGP emphasized that the framework would significantly contribute to ongoing discussions about restructuring Nigeria's police system.

Deputy Senate President Jibrin commended the IGP's proactive approach, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's agenda to enhance national security.
