IG Disu Urges Police to Treat Citizens Professionally

During a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Governor's office, Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu directed police officers to treat members of the public with civility and professionalism. He stressed that the success of the police largely depends on the cooperation and trust of the public.

Disu's remarks came as he addressed officers at the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) office in Alausa, Ikeja, where he noted that police officers should remember they are funded by taxpayers. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a good relationship with the public and the media, recalling his previous command of the RRS and the close ties he had with journalists.

The visit aimed to engage key stakeholders, including the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reinforcing the values of discipline, professionalism, and respect for human rights within the police force. Georg Okoji, chairman of the Lagos State Governor's office correspondents, commended Disu for his leadership style and the long-standing relationship with the media.
