IGP Disu Urges Police to Engage Public Professionally

During a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Governor's office on Saturday, Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu instructed officers of the Nigeria Police Force to interact with the public in a civil and professional manner. Disu highlighted that the effectiveness of the police largely depends on public trust, urging officers not to tarnish the reputation of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and to treat citizens respectfully, as they are funded by taxpayer money.

He emphasized the necessity of cooperation between the police and the public for successful policing. Disu's visit was part of a broader engagement strategy with key stakeholders, which includes the Commissioner of Police and the Assistant Inspector General.

He also expressed a desire to foster a close working relationship with journalists covering state governance, indicating the importance of collaboration in serving the public effectively.
