IGP Disu Declares Zero Tolerance for Corruption in Police

On March 24, 2026, during a ceremony at the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu addressed senior officers, declaring a zero tolerance policy for corruption and dereliction of duty across all commands. He stressed that promotions come with greater responsibilities and heightened expectations, urging officers to uphold the highest ethical standards in their duties.

Disu highlighted the critical role of effective supervision and the need for strong leadership to enforce disciplinary standards. He noted that weak oversight often leads to misconduct and emphasized the importance of public trust in law enforcement.

Newly promoted officers were charged to embrace innovation and improve operational efficiency, discarding outdated practices. Additionally, they are expected to participate in a strategic leadership retreat organized by the Police Reform Secretariat in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, aimed at strengthening leadership capacity and advancing modern policing practices.
