Sam Amadi Claims Igbos Prefer Peter Obi Over Soludo

Sam Amadi, the Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, indicated that the Igbos are more inclined to support Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), rather than Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State. Amadi expressed this sentiment on X, stating that the Igbos "have no ear for a person called Soludo" and emphasized that their trust lies with Obi.

This statement comes amid an ongoing dispute between Soludo and Obi concerning the debt profile of Anambra State at the end of Obi's tenure as governor. Obi had asserted that Anambra State was debt-free upon his departure, a claim that Soludo's administration has contested, asserting that there were outstanding loans, salary arrears, and pension obligations.

The Anambra State government, through Commissioner Dr Law Mefor, reported that Soludo's administration has cleared approximately N22 billion in inherited gratuity arrears owed to retired state and local government employees and teachers.
